Ekiti poll: Tribunal grants APC prayers to inspect election materials

by opeyemi aremu-gbemiro3 justice suleiman belgore while granting the prayers gave reasons for granting the application which was filed on july 312 he said the counsel had sought the order of the court to access the election materials in order to make photocopy of the documents of the election materials and to use forensic equipment to view the handwriting of the election result and the fingerprint of the election materials2 the request he also said was to obtain and photocopy all the election materials which were also in custody of the first respondent the peoples democratic party pdp2 he added that the request was to seek forensic experts to access both machine and other materials used in the conduct of the election2 the tribunal chairman granted the application saying this was also approved for the pdp2 the pdp candidate and current deputy governor prof. kolapo olusola scored 178121 votes2 the election petition tribunal sitting in ado ekiti on monday granted the prayers of the all progressives congress apc to inspect election materials and results of the july 14 governorship election in the state1 the apc was represented at the tribunal by yomi ariyo a senior advocate of nigeria who led six other counsel1 apc candidate dr kayode fayemi was declared the winner of the election by the chief returning officer prof. idowu olayinka after securing 197459 votes1 -

by opeyemi aremu-gbemiro3 i assure ekiti citizens that no officer will intimidate any one during the process of the election if any officer does such officer will be sanctioned he said1 the deputy inspector general of police dig in charge of operations mr habilal joshak has assured residents of ekiti of a level playing ground during saturdays governorship election1 the dig gave the assurance at a news conference on wednesday in ado-ekiti1 he said the force was ready to perform its statutory duties of protecting lives and property before during and after the election1 joshak noted that a robust security mechanism had been put in place for not only the electorate but all stakeholders participating in the election1 he however said all police officers attached to very important personalities would be withdrawn on the day of the election adding that this is to ensure a level playing ground for everyone1 joshak said any police officer found to have contravened the guidelines of the electoral act 2010 as amended will be sanctioned1 ekiti police bars officers from polling units promises fair play1 he also said that there would be restriction on vehicular movement on the day of the election adding that the entrance and exit points in the state would be properly manned1 the police boss warned the electorate and party agents to be well behaved and avoid loitering saying any attempt to disrupt the orderly manner of the election would be dealt with1 he also warned the people of the state against being armed and wearing of party insignia on the day of the election1 joshak who also warned against distributing money at polling units urged media professionals to ensure accurate unbiased and responsible reportage before during and after the election1 the dig explained that four policemen would be deployed to man each polling unit with the assistance of other sister security agencies1 he pointed out that the military had also been deployed to patrol on the outer perimeter of the state1 they will not be seen at polling units except when there is complete disturbance1 i want every citizen of the state to feel free and come out to cast their votes the dig said1
